Accomplishments that make you deserving of being a Forty Under 40: 

  • Representing LifeServe Blood Center at an international level by being vice president of the Association for Blood Donor Professionals and presenting at several national and international conferences.

  • Coordinating with Gov. Kim Reynolds to host HHS Secretary Alex Azar at LifeServe Blood Center during the COVID-19 pandemic to showcase the nationwide need for convalescent plasma to help COVID patients. This turned into working with Viewpoint, a public television series to produce an educational documentary on the importance of donating blood.

  • Prioritized being a connected leader in our community by chairing Metro Media Council, joining a Greater Des Moines Partnership committee, serving on the Public Relations Society of America Board and volunteering with various other nonprofits in the community.

  • Recognized at the Association for Blood Donor Professionals international conference in Charlotte, N.C., for winning the Media Partner of the Year award with WHO-13.

What's your biggest passion, and why?

I am genuinely passionate about learning from others and building meaningful relationships that enrich both my personal growth and the well-being of my community. Whether it's through mentorship programs, networking events or simply engaging in meaningful conversations, I am dedicated to fostering a culture of learning, collaboration and empowerment.

What are your goals in your role at work?

Overseeing our central region operations to ensure we’re providing the best service to our team members, blood donors, volunteers and hospital partners and providing our communities with a safe and available blood supply. Educating our community that sharing life locally matters and it’s the blood on the shelf today that saves lives.

What are your goals in a role outside of work?

I thrive on the opportunity to connect with fellow community members, share experiences and work together toward common goals. Whether it’s volunteering at a local nonprofit, attending neighborhood gatherings or organizing events with my church, I am constantly seeking ways to make a meaningful impact.

Tell us about an experience or memory that influenced how you see the world or what you want to do in life.

From the moment my daughter was born, I felt an overwhelming sense of responsibility to be a positive role model for her. I believe that by demonstrating what it means to be a strong woman, I can inspire her to embrace her own potential and navigate life’s challenges with confidence and determination.

What are your aspirations for the future?

I aspire to be a key leader in the medical community, where I can advocate for the importance of supporting our local health care system. I believe that a strong and accessible health care system is vital for the well-being of our community, and I am passionate about spreading awareness of its significance.

What's one piece of advice you'd give to a young professional?

As a young professional, it’s essential to embrace a growth mindset and continuously seek opportunities for learning and development. Networking is key, so don't hesitate to connect with professionals in your field and beyond. Above all, be authentic, stay true to your values, and approach each day with enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.

What is one thing you would like to see Central Iowa leaders address, and why?

As a firm believer in the importance of giving back to the community, I am passionate about educating other business leaders on the critical significance of supporting local blood donation programs. Donating blood not only saves lives but also serves as a cornerstone of health care accessibility and emergency response. Moreover, backing such programs contributes to long-term community engagement and ultimately demonstrates a commitment to making a positive impact.

What's one fun fact about you?

I've completed two half marathons.

Hobbies: Cheering for my Cyclones, crafting with my children, attending festivals and events in the community with my family.

One word that describes you: Charismatic.

What is your favorite local restaurant? Eggs and Jam.

Name one book, podcast, movie or show you love. “The Office.” I could watch this show over and over. It's currently streaming on YouTube TV.

What is your go-to activity to do in Central Iowa in the evenings or during the weekend?

We enjoy attending family-friendly festivals and events. Outside of events, we love visiting the zoo, Science Center, Iowa Cubs games and really anything to get us out of the house and active in the community.
