What's your biggest passion, and why?

I am passionate about making a positive impact on my community through my work, volunteerism and personal goals. I believe in the transformative power of collective action through organizing events, participating in outreach and collaborating with community organizations. I believe that when people come together for a common purpose – magic happens. I've seen it through disaster recovery efforts, volunteer involvements and my own personal experiences. My dedication reflects a steadfast pursuit of enhancing lives and fostering positive community impact. 

What are your goals in your role at work?

I want to cultivate a positive and collaborative work environment through unwavering commitment, and I want to articulate plans to infuse cutting-edge technologies and processes into disaster restoration operations. I want to demonstrate commitment to corporate social responsibility by engaging in community service or outreach programs. I also want to continue learning through certifications, courses and targeted training programs.

What are your goals in a role outside of work?

Leadership development: I have a zest for professional development and continued personal growth. Whether it's investing in leadership programs that I have already been a part of (Leadership Iowa, West Des Moines Leadership Academy and Leadership Ames) or tackling something new – I am excited to find the right balance of learning and application to best serve my community and myself.

Health and wellness: Prioritizing health and wellness are top goals for me, as they form the foundation for sustained energy, resilience and overall well-being. By nurturing these aspects, I ensure I am equipped to face life's challenges with vigor, fostering a balanced and fulfilling lifestyle.

Innovation and entrepreneurship: I am always looking for opportunities where I can champion personal innovation and entrepreneurship by embracing a mindset that thrives on creative problem-solving, adaptability and seizing opportunities. I love sharing ideas and connecting people together to help drive the overall greater good.

Participating in Leadership Iowa has undeniably left an indelible mark on my personal and professional trajectory. The program's immersive experiences, collaborative forums and exposure to diverse perspectives have been instrumental in refining my leadership skills and broadening my understanding of complex issues. The relationships forged with fellow participants, mentors and industry leaders have become invaluable pillars of support and inspiration. Leadership Iowa has not only equipped me with a robust skill set for effective leadership but has also cultivated a profound sense of responsibility and commitment to driving positive change in both my personal and professional spheres.

What are your aspirations for the future?

My aspirations revolve around continual self-improvement, seeking growth in various aspects of my life. I am committed to honing my skills, expanding my knowledge and cultivating a mindset that embraces challenges as opportunities. With a steadfast focus on constant progress, I look forward to evolving into an even better version of myself in the future, so I can continue to serve my company, clients, colleagues, friends, family and community.

What's one piece of advice you'd give to a young professional?

One piece of advice for young professionals everywhere would be to prioritize continuous learning and skill development. These are key strategies for navigating the ever-evolving professional landscape. Embrace a growth mindset, actively seek out development opportunities and stay current with industry advancements. Investing in your ongoing learning not only boosts your current job performance but also positions you for future career opportunities, showcasing your commitment to personal and professional growth and enhancing your adaptability in a dynamic job market.

What is one thing you would like to see Central Iowa leaders address, and why?

Sustainable development. Why: Prioritizing sustainable development is vital to fostering a community that meets present needs while safeguarding the capacity for future generations. Achieving this delicate balance requires matching economic prosperity, social equity and environmental responsibility. How: Central Iowa leaders can spearhead initiatives promoting green infrastructure, renewable energy, affordable housing, public transportation and robust community engagement. This strategic approach not only fortifies long-term resilience but also elevates the overall quality of life for all Central Iowa residents.

What's one fun fact about you?

I was born in Hawaii – the Aloha State! I think my zest for life and community comes from the island magic.

Hobbies: I thrive on hitting the gym, movie marathons and culinary explorations — because life's a playground of fitness, cinematic wonders and delicious discoveries!
