Class of 2004
Owner and operator, Dalla Terra Ranch
What’s one issue you’re very passionate about?
Conservation and water quality. I’m blessed with a beautiful ranch in Earlham where we have been restoring and protecting both land and water. Giving tours so others can experience Iowa native prairie, wetlands, alternative energy and organic livestock production – all in one place – is really inspirational to me. I also very much enjoy my work with the Nature Conservancy as it keeps me in a constant state of learning.
What’s one of your everyday habits that helps you be successful?
I’m a person of routine; this keeps me grounded. Each day looks very much the same in that I wake and go to bed with barely a 30-minute deviation. (My rule is to always wake up and go to bed on the same day – the Bravo Annual Gala is the one exception to this.) I work out early each morning with a group of friends, which I find important both emotionally and physically. Each evening, Kyle and I sit down to a quiet dinner and share our happenings from the day. We keep each other in check; sometimes we help each other level-set when schedules or commitments get to be too much. Our faith is very important to both of us. We hold Sundays as a special time together with a definite routine.
